About The Regional 250

Did you know that almost 10 million Australians live outside of the major metropolitan cities and suburbs?

And every single one of those 10 million people have a story to tell - a story about themselves, their family, their town or their region. In The Regional 250, we will chat to 250 of those people, learn about their town or region and let them tell their story in a relaxed "podversational" style.

And to ensure that we cover as much of Australia as we can, we are going to limit ourselves to one podversation per Local Government Area (LGA) across Australia. That means that we'll cover 250 rural cities, towns, boroughs and shires from right across the country.

There'll be happy stories and sad stories. There'll be funny episodes and serious ones, too. But they'll be genuine. They'll be interesting. They'll be real.

And we can't wait to bring The Regional 250 to you.

So how does it work?

The Regional 250 is a podcast, or as we like to call it, a podversation series. We'll record the podversations via telephone, meaning that we can chat to people anywhere they have access to a phone.

Each episode be hosted by Neil Butler and will start with a snapshot of the guest's town or region before settling in to hear their own story. Episodes will last around 20 - 25 minutes and will be released once or twice per week through all of the major podcast stores.

Our aim is to take our listeners to parts of Australia they've never visited - in some cases, to parts of Australia they have never even heard of. We love listening to storytellers and we hope you do too.

How can I listen to The Regional 250?

The Regional 250 will be available through the major podcast stores including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and others. The first episode is scheduled for release in late February 2022.

We encourage you to subscribe to The Regional 250 through your favourite podcast store or by visiting The Regional 250's podcast page.

How do I get involved?

The Regional 250 is all about the people we speak with - their towns, their regions and, importantly, their stories.

If you live in one of Australia's regional local government areas (LGAs) and you have a story you want to share, then we want to hear from you. You can register your interest by visiting our Registration page. Please understand that we are only going to chat with one person from each LGA and so, if we already have an episode recorded or scheduled with someone from your LGA, unfortunately, we won't be able to include you in The Regional 250.
