Did you know that over 10 million Australians live outside the major metropolitan areas that surround our capital cities?
Every single one of those people has a story to tell - a story about themselves, their family, their town or their region. Why they choose to live where they live. Whether they were born in the area or moved there at some stage of their life. Whether they have been there for weeks or for decades.
Every story is unique and, on The Regional 250, we provide a platform for those stories to be told. Some of our guests are professional presenters. Most are people undertaking their first ever podcast appearance.
There are happy stories and there are sad stories. There are funny episodes and serious episodes.
But they are genuine. They are authentic. They are interesting. They are real.
We can't wait for you to discover The Regional 250.
So how does it work?
The Regional 250 is a podcast, or as we like to call it a Podversation series. We record our episodes via telephone, meaning that we can chat to people anywhere as long as they have access to a phone. Given our focus on regional locations and the people who live in those places, we occasionally run into issues with mobile reception. But that just adds to the authenticity!
Each episode is hosted by Neil Butler and starts with a snapshot of the guest's town and region before we settle in to hear their own story. Episodes will last around 25 - 30 minutes and will be released, in season, on a weekly basis through all of the major podcast stores.
Our aim is to take our listeners to parts of Australia they've never visited - in some cases, to parts of Australia they have never even heard of. We love listening to authentic story tellers and we hope you do too.
How can I listen to The Regional 250?
The Regional 250 is available through the major podcast stores including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon and many others. You can search for The Regional 250 in your favourite podcast store or visit www.r250.com.au.
We encourage our listeners to Subscribe or Follow - that way, your podcast app will let you know when the next episode is available.
How do I tell my story?
The Regional 250 is all about the people we speak with - their towns, their regions and, importantly, their stories.
If you live in one of Australia's regional local government areas (LGAs) and you have a story you want to share, then we want to hear from you. You can register your interest by visiting our Registration page.
Please understand that we are only intending to chat with one person from each LGA and so, if we already have an episode recorded or scheduled with someone from your LGA, unfortunately, we won't be able to include you in The Regional 250.
